Since 1989, Mr. Leonard has been involved in the automotive engineering and crash reconstruction fields where his career started at U-Haul International in Phoenix, Arizona working on trailers and trailer dynamics. Starting in 1998, Mr. Leonard started the next chapters of his career where he focused on accident reconstruction and expert testimony work at Exponent (previously Failure Analysis), Vehicle Sciences, Inc., EFI Global, and Rimkus. Mr. Leonard joined the Mecanica team in late 2022 and brings 33 years in the field of accident reconstruction and fast response documentation. He also has extensive experience with vehicle testing and combination-vehicle stability. Mr. Leonard has earned his Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Benedictine College and a Master of Science in Engineering from Arizona State University. Mark has sat for and passed the Arizona Future Engineer (FE) exam and is ACTAR certified. He is certified to image and analyze data from passenger vehicles using the CDR tool, as well as trained and qualified to image Heavy Vehicle Event Data Recorders (HVEDR) from heavy trucks. Mr. Leonard specializes in combination vehicle dynamics and towability and has served as Chairman of the SAE International Trailer Dynamics Task Force.
